Welcome to Moxie's Munchables!!!

Moxie and I have been busy. We have more pup approvals on some of the samples so far. And I keep hearing about more willing four-legged volunteers! :-) I was in NYC today and met up with a friend who has been a loyal supporter. He took it to a new level when he gave me a book of MORE recipes. Thank you, Nicholas. So there will be more baking, tasting, etc. coming up.

What I really liked about the book is some of the reasons why homemade biscuits are so good for your dog:
1. You control the ingredients. This is ideal particularly for those dogs with food sensitivities or allergies.
2. You control the quality.
3. Homemade biscuits are fresh and preservative-free
4. Homemade biscuits are made with love!

So, after testing a few more flavors, I'll post details on how to order some goodies for your pups! And keep in mind I can do custom flavors and adjust ingredients for those who Do have dogs with allergies or are diabetic. Just ask and we'll figure something out.

And here is a shot of what I come home to every day. Moxie waits by the door for me. She barks when she sees me pull into the driveway. By the time I get to the front door Moxie has gone in search of a toy that she can 'present' to me. And is back to greet me as I walk in the door. That way she knows we are both ready for play time. She'll do her trademark WIGGLE and drop the toy at my feet for me to give it a toss OR run to the back door so we can really play outside. My Moxie is quite the entertainment center. She does make me smile. And she also has me well trained. And I would not have it any other way. I hope this made YOU smile this evening!

Yesterday Moxie tasted and approved the new veggie flavor. Yay! With carrots, applesauce and bananas how bad could it be, right?

I want to share a Moxie story with you for those who have not met my sweet furball in person yet.

A few years ago, my friend Mary and I - along with our sweet golden girls Moxie & Madison - took part in Dogs Walk Against Cancer. It was an American Cancer Society event. There was not much of a 'walk,' but it was a perfect NYC day in Riverside Park.

Aside from the picture - which is an all-time favorite - the most memorable moment was when Moxie decided it was too hot and (on leash) strolled over to and then INTO a kiddie pool that was filled with ice, water and bottled water for the humans and not the pups. She was so proud of herself at being so smart and now much cooler than she was before. As you might guess, that particular water vendor was not quite as pleased with Moxie's brilliance.

It took some coaxing, but I got Moxie up and out of the kiddie pool. She gave a quick shake where I was the victim of most of the shaken water. And then simply stepped into and laid down in the next one. At this point I was laughing so hard it made it hard for Moxie to know I was serious when I tried to get her out of THIS one. Luckily the other dog parents behind me also saw the humor! Whew! She did reluctantly leave her cool water oasis. And after another shake she proudly walked on to see other vendors. Wagging and sniffing her way through.

We did the walk the next year, and did the SAME thing. But that time the vendors were smart enough to set up a kiddie pool JUST for the pups to cool off in. And there were even dog Moms and Dads who remembered Moxie's cool dip from the prior year. She is a memorable pooch!

I hope Moxie's smile and hearing a bit about her antics made you smile today.

I woke up to a flurry of emails and even a couple of blog comments (thanks dawn & zwick!). Thanks for the support everyone!!! I also have a new recipe request. If anyone has a pup with food allergies, please let me know and I can make some treats that your special pup can enjoy. keep those emails and comments coming.

Oh, and here is a shot of little Miss Moxie helping with the dishes when she was a little wee one. To this day, cleaning the dishes before the dishwasher is turned on, is still one her of skills. Such a helpful pup!

Okay, so clearly this is all new and exciting for me. So exciting that I forgot to let you know what Moxie's Munchables will be offering in terms of flavors.

So far Moxie has approved the Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies. I'm thinking about calling the Moxie's Nutty Buddies. Those that know Moxie won't be surprised by this because you know of her LOVE of peanut butter! it's her official night-time treat.

She also likes the Cheesy Bites. These may be called Say Cheese! C'mon, that's cute, right?

Some other recipes I'm working on are a veggie flavor, a chicken flavor, a beefy one and a liver one too. Everything is made from natural ingredients - all human-grade. Not that I will be enjoying them. But my picky princess will be, so they need to be good for her.

Okay, that's all for now. Or until I forget something else I have to tell you right away.

Moxie sends wiggles and smooches too

So... where to begin. I've been looking online for recipes to make for my Moxie girl. And after some searching, shopping, mixing, baking, and Moxie-testing - where she has shown her support with two enthusiastic paws-up and a happy trademark Moxie wiggle - Moxie Munchables is becoming a reality.

Moxie and I are going to happily start sharing her treats with her doggie friends - with anyone who might want yummy treats for their four-legged children.

Oh, and please bear with me as I figure out how to design and manage a blog...
